Pond filters can be made by yourself with used items or utilizing existing items. This can be done if it is not possible to add an area for the filter in the koi pond or want to filter the cheap koi pond. In addition, a Pond with a tarpaulin tub or fiber tub as a temporary shelter is quite difficult to add to the filter system. With a little patience a simple Pond filter can be made by yourself.

Items that need to be prepared before making a simple pond filter include: plastic barrels or a large enough buckets, PVC pipes, PVC male adaptor, knees, PVC Tee, PVC glue, hacksaw and other supporting devices.

Here are some steps to create a simple pond filter.
1. Make a hole in the bottom / bottom of the barrel with a size adjusted to the size of the pipe / adaptor, this hole is used as drainage hole when the filter is cleaned.

Make sure the bottom hole also fits the size of the pipe / adaptor. This hole is used as a filter inlet from the water of a pond.

Create a hole on the side of the top of the barrel, it will serve as a water outlet in the pond or in the next barrel if you want to perform a waterfall.
Then attach the male adaptor make sure there are no leaks.

4. Install the hose for the outlet, the filter outlet hose is also L-shaped upward. This is intended to capture incoming air with the water in the pond to increase the oxygen levels in the pond water. In addition, the dirt that rises does not enter the pond but falls to the bottom of the filter.
